Seeing your loved one face to face can mean everything—and we’re here to make that easier.

Thanks to funding from the City of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania state legislature, we will be adding additional locations and trip dates throughout 2026 and 2027. We hope to be able to offer trips to every SCI from both Pittsburgh and from Philadelphia by the end of 2027.

From Philadelphia, we currently run trips to nine state correctional institutions: SCI Benner, SCI Frackville, SCI Greene, SCI Huntingdon, SCI Laurel Highlands, SCI Mahanoy, SCI Muncy, SCI Smithfield, and SCI Somerset.

From Pittsburgh, we run trips to SCI Albion, SCI Cambridge Springs, SCI Fayette, and SCI Greene.

If you plan to visit someone, ensure you're on their visitors list before booking a trip, including infants and children. Bus riders need active Keystone/IVVS accounts. Contact helpline@prisonsociety.org for assistance with setting up an account.

No. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no exceptions. Cash purchases must be made in person at our office.

All trips that are over 3.5 hours will stop so that passengers can stretch their legs, go to a restroom, and purchase food if desired. Shorter trips will not make stops. Upon booking, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed information about your specific trip, including stops.

All buses have a bathroom on board, and passengers are welcome to bring their own snacks.

Visit lengths vary depending on the facility, but typically are for the entirety of the visiting day (6 hours). Visit lengths may be shortened if there is a facility lockdown, delayed count, or other staffing issue. DOC staff will work to ensure that families are able to visit for the duration of the scheduled time.

Do not bring prohibited items on the bus or DOC property, as the bus may be subject to search. Prohibited items include marijuana, knives, and alcohol. A medical marijuana card does not permit cannabis products on DOC property, even if left on the bus.

Seats are limited, so please only buy if you are sure you can use it. No refunds will be issued within 7 days of the event, except for cancellations related to weather, facility lockdown, or changes to the visiting/housing status of the person being visited. Please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate an issue with your reservation.
