On Monday, we'll release a report of findings from a new survey of people incarcerated in Pennsylvania state prisons during the explosive second wave of the pandemic.
The report adds to what we learned in our first report of findings published in September 2020 and describes the problems facing incarcerated people as the pandemic entered an even more virulent phase including:
- Increased concern for personal safety
- Inconsistent mask-wearing by correctional staff
- Difficulty accessing medical care
The report also describes how the Department of Corrections is addressing concerns and provides recommendations for stemming the spread of COVID-19 behind bars and, by extension, the community.
Look for the complete report in your inbox on Monday.
