In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, Philadelphia City Commissioners' Office and Eastern State Penitentiary are partnering to present Voices Behind the Walls - Justice, Reentry, and Civic Power on September 15, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Eastern State.

This panel and networking event explores a fundamental American right: voting with or without a criminal record. The discussion will provide historical context, practical information, and lived experience to help attendees better understand voting rights in Pennsylvania, address common misconceptions, and explore how civic engagement can strengthen communities and empower eligible justice-involved individuals—, from incarceration through reentry and beyond.

Join our community partners for an evening of meaningful conversation, community, food, and networking at the historic Eastern State.
